Wisconsin Dells Convention Hosting Stage II Research Team

The Village of Lake Delton has given the Kalahari Resort 10 million publicly collected dollars to build a convention center ( 212 thousand square feet) capable of serving large regional - national groups.  This is an add on to the original resort plan.  This is expected to attract a huge new population of shared customers in to the Wisconsin Dells area.

This research team is employing the place making process - connecting commercial clusters to decrease amusement burden within the Kalahari Resort where the new convention center is being constructed.  The convention center is expected to become operational in the last quarter of 2019.

This involves the implementation of a resource called an area specific online convention hosting industry site.  The Wisconsin Dells Conventions HUB Stage II is an online site that will support the distribution of information published to improve the professionalism of the convention organizer and the over all experience of the convention attendee.

Embedded in the value added process will be information that promotes a visit to the historic down town Baraboo square during their scheduled convention stay.  This populates the historic down town Baraboo square with new visitors who can witness first hand how residents work, play, have fun, and profit while living in Sauk County.  This is place making- a proven community building use of resources necessary for the long term success of a geographical area.

The data collection area is a fixed location described as 3 concrete lanes that border the triangular land mass the statue rests upon in the historic down town Baraboo square.  The research team counts each individual person walking upon one of the 3 concrete lanes during a defined period of time.  This is an example that will be used for a baseline:

Wednesday April 3, 2019 for a one hour time period from 11:46am to 12:46 pm the research team recorded the presence of 23 people and one dog.  This is performed prior to the completion of the new Kalahari Resort Convention Center.   This will be a calculation used in comparison to data collected once the convention center becomes operational.

A positive impact would be indicated with an increase in the number of people in the fixed location after the convention center becomes operational.  This is a digital form of promotion that facilitates local solutions within emerging opportunities to foster a mutually beneficial outcome.

The Wisconsin Dells area has entered Stage II of the convention hosting industry.  This is a top down effort designed to employ public resources to support private business for the purpose of growing the local economy.
