Number 1 Thing New Health Bill Means 4 Wisconsin

The new Health Bill is about altering the structure of Health Care System funding.  This change is expected to catch many Wisconsin families by surprise.

This Health Bill creates a population of individuals who physically- functionally qualify for a nursing home stay but will not financially be eligible.  This is different in that it is not people who want help to live in the community rather than a nursing home- it is people who now have to live in the community.

Wisconsin will look to privately operated non-medical models to serve this population with higher medical needs.  This shoves medical acuity down the health care delivery continuum.

Community care coordinators will be challenged to help families work with local non-licensed assistive personnel to meet the higher medical needs.  The funding ( health insurance industry) under newly implemented health system law has re-defined medical need.

Families who privately pay for assistance will increase as there options have decreased.  So Wisconsin families will be desperately working to hire help to come to the home and participate in more medical care giving tasks.  This will likely be individuals with the conditions that had nursing homes struggling to deliver adequate care.

Home Care Path invites readers to watch as the New Health Bill moves in to law creating a whole new way of funding for medical needs.
