New Health Bill Looming Madison Wisconsin Starts Street Medicine 4 Homeless

Collaborative partners in Madison Wisconsin have begun plans for a September 2017 launch of Madison Street Medicine.  This is about getting medical care for the growing homeless population. An important response to the anticipated change in health care regulations that will restrict access to medical care.

By going in to the streets the Madison Street Medicine staff help assure Wisconsin citizens they are not alone.  The short term goal is to conduct weekly visits that can deliver basic care for immediate needs.  The long term goal is to communicate ongoing information that assisst with care transitions from the emergency room, hospital and back in to the street setting.

The weekly visits schedule will target shelters, campsites, meal programs, and community hang outs.  This is an important step in reducing isolation and embedding avenues for a greater interdependence upon available community medical solutions.

This is a public health style intervention as a proactive approach to compensate for the coming implementation of Federal and State top down driven health care system changes.
