Wisconsin Ramps Up 2 Lead Driverless Car Industry

The State of Wisconsin is posturing to become the National leader in the driverless car industry. The UW Madison has been authorized by the United States Department of Transportation as one of the 10 established testing sites.

Governor Scott Walker signed an executive order on May 18, 2017 facilitating the creation of a steering committee to properly study how the public funded systems will need to work with private companies to safely get driverless cars on Wisconsin roads rapidly.

This is a progressive effort to bolster employment opportunities springing from automobile, technology, trucking,  insurance, and transportation industries.  Driverless cars are expected to be well accepted in Wisconsin being primarily rural with an aging population.
