Dementia Kids In The Lawn View

Children in the neighborhood recognize dementia.  Changes in an elders routine appear to kids as a disruption in expected behavior.

Watching the elder make multiple attempts to put their vehicle in the garage.  Back n forth - striking garbage cans and rubbing the side of the garage trying to get the vehicle inside.  Neighborhood children playing outside have been used to an elder easily pulling their vehicle in with ease.

Watching the elder come back out multiple times to get their mail from the box at the street when they have already taken it in. Seeing first hand these repetitive trips to the street mail box.

Neighborhood children playing in the lawns pick up on these changes and begin to question what  they mean.    Often deciding to stop a kick ball game and standing way clear till the elder can get their vehicle in the garage.  Concerns the elder will accuse one of them for the seemingly missing mail.

The undesired symptoms of dementia create changes that can be felt across the community.  Home Care Path has been supporting families who have an elder experiencing the undesired symptoms of dementia since 2010.   Implementing a kind focused approach to caring for individuals.
