Wisconsin AB 788 Four Dementia Care Specialist Positions

Wisconsin Assembly Bill 788 authorizes funds for the Department of Health Services through the Aging and Disability Resource Centers serving Counties with a population of less than 150 thousand for a Dementia Care Specialist position.  The 2016 legislation funds 4 full time Dementia Care Specialist positions.

The Dementia Care Specialist creates applications that educate employers on ways to help employees caring for an elder with memory loss in their home.  The hope is that by expanding awareness through out communities innovative providers will develop services to bolster this cause.  The underlying mission being to help elders with memory loss remain at home as long as possible.

The Dementia Care Specialist will maintain a list of active providers that families wanting the help of another can contact

The Dementia Care Specialist will connect families seeking help with memory loss with information

One of the questions consistently asked of the family seeking help for an elder with memory loss will be when do you think all this started - this is a strategy to answer that repetitively received question
