Renewal Offers For Existing Health Plans Are In The Mail

You have all experienced the terrifying scary information to facilitate a perception of bad (coming premium increase) health insurance news.  The Affordable Care Act requires health insurance plans to deliver essential health benefits that will likely cost more money.

To help you minimize this fear the media hype has created- existing health plan holders will receive a renewal choice offer in the mail.  The insurance company will encourage policy holders who would normally renew in January 2014 to September 2014 an opportunity to lock in at a lower rate by December 2013.  You are renewing December 2013 to avoid rate increases anticipated with the Affordable Care Act in 2014.

Say you carry a catastrophe plan with high deductible for about 132.24 per month.  The renewal choice offer may contract at 150.07 per month for one year for similar benefits.  This right out of the chute offer lacks an obvious point of comparison the Federal Health Exchange Marketplace has taught us we so desperately need.

October 1, 2013 will begin the busiest annual policy renewal season in the health insurance industry.  Any consumers that can be locked in (served and retained) by December 2013 through a renewal choice offer lessens the labor required to serve this influx of changing plans.

Most health care consultants would advise you to check the marketplace to determine eligibility for subsidized coverage and tax credits, prior to making a choice.  This would involve having access to the information needed to make the best choice for yourself and the family.

Home Care Path encourages readers to continue to follow this issue as it unfolds in the next few months.
