Wisconsin Health Plans Work Commissioner Insurance 2 Approve Combining Bottom Lines

Unity Point Health Physicians Plus Insurance Plan, Unity Health Insurance Plan, and Gunderson Health Plan is working through the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance to structure an individual organization.  Wisconsin Health Insurance Plans are combining to better withstand the coming Federal Regulatory changes.

The health insurance plans each have their own service provision infrastructure - clinics, hospitals, nursing homes.  Combining of the health insurance plans gives beneficiaries access to all clinical care operations.

This calls on care coordinators to move the patient population from areas of high use to areas with lower utilization.  The savings come from not having to construct additional buildings and maintain staff while a nearby clinical care building has vacancies.

Competition efforts with delivery of medical care should not exceed the resources available in the community.  Here is an example of health care analysis focusing on utilization as it relates to the expense of infrastructure.  This will become an essential piece of maintaining medical service with the coming federal health system regulation changes.
