Madison Wisconsin Gets 700K 2 Eliminate Heroin

Community partners in Madison Wisconsin have received 700k in a federal grant for a 3 year program to eliminate heroin addiction.  The organization includes the help of Police, Treatment Providers, UW Health System, Dane County Public Health and more.

This is a comprehensive effort that creates greater access and works to eliminate barriers to recovery.  Care coordinators will need to sign the individual up for an insurance plan that will best serve their primary diagnosis- the heroin addiction.

This will facilitate rapid enrollment in to treatment at the level of need.  This is essential because the need is greater than the available treatment service.  A big part of the focus is to create the opportunity to integrate treatment service within the existing health care delivery system.

This creates an initiative to bring the heroin epidemic to the forefront of community planners who will be challenged to reduce the unnecessary deaths. This approach is important because data indicates assigning this deadly problem to one discipline has not been effective.  Organizations need to work across delivery service boundaries to save the lives of our family and friends.
