Wisconsin Making Its Own Moly-99 SHINE Medical Technologies

Wisconsin will soon be operating its own Moly- 99 productions system.  The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission created by Congress in 1974 to facilitate safe use of radioactive materials for beneficial civilian purposes has certified the plans of SHINE medical technologies.

The plan involves construction and operation of a 57 thousand square foot plant in Janesville Wisconsin. The mission is to establish a reliable supply of the medical isotope Molybdenum -99 (Moly-99) which is utilized in nuclear medicine.  Moly-99 is a parent isotope of technetium -99m (99mTc) this is a light emitting medical ingredient used to diagnose and stage disease.

SHINE Medical Technologies headquartered on Industrial Drive in Monona Wisconsin has invested a lot of resources to meet the lengthy U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission certification process.  The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will continue to inspect, advise, enforce, and certify the production as it evolves.

The staff of Home Care Path wishes SHINE Medical Technologies the best of luck with their efforts to improve Wisconsin's ability to effectively participate in advancing medical treatment processes.
