Wisconsin Family Care IRIS 2.0 A 6 year projected cost reduction

The Wisconsin State Journal Newspaper has reported the Wisconsin Department of Health Services projected the 6 year savings for authorizing Insurance Plans to administer both Medical Treatment and Long Term Care for beneficiaries.

The new Family Care IRIS 2.0 is estimated to save more than 300 million dollars over a 6 year period.  That translates to about 50 million dollars per year.  The focus, or aim of the changes taking place is to cut costs.

Wisconsin population forecasts indicate enrollment in the new Wisconsin Family Care IRIS 2.0 will grow about 37 percent in the next 10 years.  The ideal is to keep the beneficiaries healthier reducing the need for more expensive, invasive treatment.

The user populations questioning of how the specifics of the program will work indicates a mass perception shift toward the reality of an eminent change.  With the Joint Finance Committee approval the State will request a Federal Waiver to operate.
