Can Wisconsin Medicaid Eliminate 3 Million Baths

David Wahlberg with the Wisconsin State Journal on December 20, 2015 reported Health Officials expect to reduce personal care spending by 27 million dollars.  This is the expected result of implementing independent personal care assessments.

27 million divided by the 16.00 per hour reimbursed to the contracted staffing agency represents about 1, 687, 500. 00 hours.  We can wheel the numbers to lend some insight to the Department of Health Services projections.

This means the elimination of 3,375,000.00 thirty minute baths.  This is over 3 million 30 minute baths. OR-

This means the elimination of 5,062,500.00 twenty minute meals.  This is over 5 million 20 minute meals. OR-

This means the elimination of 6,750,000.00 fifteen minute toileting.  This is over 6 million 15 minute trips to a toilet.

This is an important forecast for community long term care planners.  The legislative supported policy seems to require a lengthening of time at the supportive home care level.

This seems to continue to push acuity down the continuum of care to facilitate maximum delivery at the lowest cost.
