Wisconsin Dells Business Community Pro - Immigration

The City of Wisconsin Dells and the Village of Lake Delton business operators are pro- immigration.  The Wisconsin Dells area lacks the population to staff these tourism business modals - making the business community dependent upon people who come from outside of the Country through the J1VISA Immigration Programming to staff their business locations.

The Wisconsin Dells area employs more than 4500 work experience travelers who come from outside of the Country through the J1VISA Program - and we need twice that many.  City of Wisconsin Dells and the Village of Lake Delton have elected officials and committee members who have been in place for many years.  This stasis - non-,movement of elected officials and committee members has created an individual lens they all use when budget planning.

This has assured the bulk of public money at the local level is being assigned to support an ever larger flow of individuals  who come from outside of the Country through the J1VISA Immigration Program to support the local tourism business modals.  This is costly.  The Village of Lake Delton recently gave Noah's Ark 1.5 million publicly collected dollars to build new housing for 600 individuals who come from outside of the Country through the J1VISA Immigration Program to live on Lake Avenue and help staff the tourism business modals.

This activity has become increasingly more risky as the Administration of the Federal Government is continuing to enact regulations that restrict legal immigration.  Some Countries have distributed travel warnings to citizens advising them to post pone any travel in to the United States with the recent mass shootings.  This contributes to a drastic drop in the number of people from outside of the Country willing to enroll in J1VISA Immigration Programming that enables them to come live in Wisconsin Dells and support tourism efforts.  This means the Wisconsin Dells area will need to spend more public resources on the effort to bring workers from outside of the Country - this is money the community does not have.

The sole focus of local elected officials who spend all our public money on private business enterprises that require us to spend more on bringing people from outside of the Country to staff them has diminished the Wisconsin Dells areas ability to compete.  The single minded spending at the local level has taken the precious public resources the Wisconsin Dells community needs to compete for residents, economic development, and Federal and State funding.

The municipalities who create budgets that align with the thinking of elected officials have seen low revenue with building permits.  Municipalities funding sources just cannot keep pace with the increasing expenses.  The service departments have requests way beyond local staff capacity with the exceedingly growing population of work experience travelers who come from outside of the Country to live in the Wisconsin Dells area - but cannot be counted as citizens on census counts that apply to funding levels. The rate on the premier resort tax is at a State high - and the year round residents are stuck paying in to this.

In the mean time the high cost of importing our labor from outside of the Country has created a business lease failure rate in the Wisconsin Dells area that is much higher than normal.
