Wisconsin 3 MCO's Merge Providers Anticipate Non- Payment

Providers contracted with the 3 Wisconsin merging (MCO's) Managed Care Organizations should soon receive a written notification of a change to the claims reimbursement process.  ContinuUs, Community Care Connections, and Western Wisconsin Cares  will merge in January 2017.

The State contract will require the 3 MCO's to consolidate their claims - reimbursement process to demonstrate fiscal integrity.  Providers contracted with one or more MCO's will experience an unexpected transition to a very different claims reimbursement process.  Language in the hard copies of the fragmented transition process will clearly state your organization is at risk of not being paid.

If you had an expressed contract with only one of the 3 MCO's - you soon discover you are participating in a unilateral agreement with 2 other MCO's and missing a secure reciprocal agreement.

From the provider side this moves very tight margins to an unsustainable level of operation.  The unbudgeted expenses to complying with the different claims- reimbursement system increases the loss.  Judiciary Circuit Courts are at risk of an influx of special liens submitted on behalf of a non-reimbursed provider.

Home Care Path is an integrated senior living service provider serving Wisconsin families since 2010.  This is written to alert participating providers to the expected loss related to the merge of the 3 listed MCO's in January 2017.
