Wisconsin's Dean and DSS Research Project 11648

Dean Health Plan (SSM) Madison Wisconsin has contracted with DSS Research to conduct market study on medical clinic visits.  Decision Support System (DSS) Research has been delivering market studies for providers in the health care industry since 1982.

DSS Research is located in Fort Worth Texas and conducts a post medical clinic visit survey (project 11648) in cooperation with the operation of the Dean Health Insurance Plan.  Calculating the survey response is thought to improve patent care by understanding the change in need per individual facility more rapidly.

DSS Research collects the information, analyzes the responses, and consults with the policy arm of the care delivery setting to help maintain a competitive presence in the community.  Communication typically connects the patient population to the serving provider which is thought to indicate  staffing response to system wide changes.

Clever economists can quickly identify this process as an expense that often goes unrecognized when determining health care system spending.  The myth of care delivery being an exclusive process between the primary care provider and the patient may seem to fade.  Communities are being challenged to begin to understand the expansive quality to local care delivery.
