HR 5481 Flex-IT Act 2014 Meaningful Use Program

On September 16, 2014 Representatives Renee Ellmers, and Jim Matheson sponsored H.R. 5481 The Flexibility in Health IT Reporting Act (Flex-IT Act) 2014.  This bill mandates a 90 day reporting period giving  2015 participating providers the flexibility needed to comply with the meaningful use program.

This preserves the integrity of the meaningful use program by supporting providers during a comprehensive digital update.  This bill accommodates the providers  requirement to focus more on their patients needs than conducting busy work to avoid financial penalties.

Flexibility in health IT reporting could help participating providers stay the course with stage 2 while strengthening the quality of the submitted information.  This can foster stability and longevity with the Medicare and Medicaid electronic health record incentive program.  The staff at Home Care Path encourage readers to follow this issue as it unfolds in the months ahead.
