Lucigen has a history of isolating enzymes (OmniAmp) for a process called Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification (lamp). This involves short sequences that are unique signatures for viruses and bacteria. This is part of quickly identifying various bugs that contribute to hospital acquired infections.
This would allow medical providers in different settings to take a patient sample and perform the analysis on site. No more collecting and shipping the sample off and waiting for the results.
