The Village of Lake Delton has given the Kalahari Resort 10 million publicly collected dollars to build a convention center ( 212 thousand square feet) capable of serving large regional - national groups. The hope is this effort will bring a whole new huge population of shared customers in to the Wisconsin Dells area.
One insider secret is that Wisconsin Dells residents with transportation means always shop outside of the area. This is because of the aggressive 1.25 percent additional tax charged at each point of sale which is then submitted in to a resort tax fund. The aggressive collection of the additional 1.25 percent tax at each point of sale has diminished most all local trade. The bulk of the business operators in the Wisconsin Dells area completely close in the off season.
Kalahari Resort Convention Center attendees can stretch their trip money much further by shopping in nearby historic Baraboo. Convention attendees simply travel Kalahari Drive to Bunker Drive to County Trunk A and on in to historic down town Baraboo. Savvy convention organizers looking to enhance their professional service benefit from the information being made available through the Facebook page titled Wisconsin Dells Conventions HUB Stage II. This is part of a digital process being developed to serve the needs of non-local convention organizers.
The Kalahari Convention Center is expected to become operational in the last quarter of 2019. The Wisconsin Dells area has entered stage II of the convention hosting industry.
