Wisconsin Dells Convention Hosting Stage II State Office Outdoor Recreation

The Village of Lake Delton has given the Kalahari Resort 10 million publicly collected dollars to build a convention center ( 212 thousand square feet) capable of serving large regional- national groups.  This effort is to attract a whole new population of shared customers in to the Wisconsin Dells area.

The challenge will be to demonstrate how the African Theme of the Kalahari Resort can align with the State of Wisconsin initiative to install an Office of Outdoor Recreation under the Department of Tourism.  This will be a first of its kind approach in the Midwest to actively strengthen the process for supporting tourism.

The establishing of an Office of Outdoor Recreation under the Department of Tourism in the State of Wisconsin will create jobs, highlight healthy activities, and promote positive use of public lands while attracting tourists from other States.  This is a State lead initiative designed to benefit the local economy.

The Wisconsin Dells area will be looking at how the delivery of service to visiting populations of tourists compliments the State of Wisconsin's efforts to attract families from farther out of State.  This identification of aligned efforts helps bolster return on investment for all participants.  This can prove helpful for a small rural community beginning to promote this large new convention space being constructed  by the Kalahari Resort.

The community is hoping the Kalahari Resort Convention Center can be operational within the fourth quarter of 2019.  The Wisconsin Dells area has entered stage II of the convention hosting industry.
