The Village of Lake Delton has given the Kalahari Resort 10 million publicly collected dollars to build a convention center ( 212 thousand square feet) capable of serving large regional - national groups. The Village of Lake Delton is providing financial incentives for property owners who construct temporary housing on their land.
Noah's Ark has been given 750 thousand dollars for each individual building being constructed to house seasonal workers. The two buildings will use 1.5 million dollars of public resources to begin construction. The new project is expected to house 400 to 600 over night staff. The plan includes a convenience store and onsite office space.
Noah's Ark is a well known outdoor water park that operates from Memorial day thru Labor day each year. The Wisconsin Dells area is strongly dependent upon the J1VISA Program to staff their varied business modals. This brings individuals from outside of the United States in to the Wisconsin Dells area to work.
A percentage of each of the J1VISA Program workers wage will contribute to the building and maintaining of these new seasonal housing construction projects. These new housing projects must be populated to pay for the construction and maintenance.
To help assure the new housing being constructed is populated- expect to see stronger enforcement of ambiguous housing regulations crafted at the local level. Property that for the longest time operated as a summer rental may be deemed unsafe for human occupancy - this reduces housing options. Individuals staying for the summer to work will be encouraged to rent space in one of the new buildings being constructed.
The Wisconsin Dells area has entered stage II of the convention hosting industry. The competition for seasonal labor is expected to increase with the change being created through these large investments of public money.
