The Village of Lake Delton has given the Kalahari Resort 10 million publicly collected dollars to build a convention center ( 212 thousand square feet) capable of serving large regional - national groups. The Wisconsin Dells area lacks the hotel rooms to deliver the over night stays needed to properly serve this huge new Convention population.
The Village of Lake Delton is providing financial incentives for franchise hotel operators who locate in the Wisconsin Dells area. The Wisconsin Dells area lacks the population needed to staff the new convention center and the increased number of franchise hotels accepting financial incentives to locate in the area.
The Village of Lake Delton is providing financial incentives for property owners who build housing for temporary work staff on their property. These buildings are being constructed as housing for individuals coming to the area through the J1VISA Program. The Wisconsin Dells area is completely dependent upon adequate numbers of J1VISA Program workers coming to staff the local business modals.
The Village of Lake Delton is providing public resources to private business to increase the number of visitors coming in to the Wisconsin Dells area. The more people that come in to the area the more J1VISA Program staff required to properly serve them. The more people you have in an area the more you need public service.
On March 30, 2019 at 322 Washington Avenue, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965 J1VISA Program participant Fuad Pashayev stabbed J1VISA Program participant Tetiana Huzhva to death. Wisconsin Dells Police on Thursday April 4, 2019 while performing a welfare check discovered the dead body of Tetiana Huzhva. Fuad Pashayev has been arrested and charged with first degree intentional homicide. There is a 2 year old daughter involved.
Tetiana Huzhva and her 2 year old daughter Sabina have family in Ukraine. Transportation must now be coordinated to return Tetiana Huzhva's body and return the granddaughter Sabina to anxious family. The Family of Fuad Pashayev now have a son set to spend the rest of his life in the United States prison system. This situation has alerted the community to the huge number of essential tasks that fall completely outside of a police officers role.
Wisconsin Dells residents are suggesting the need for a culturally competent mental and social health employee to work with the police departments across the area. This position would be a direct hire and work out of space in the new law enforcement location. The employee would work side by side law enforcement.
The entire Wisconsin Dells area is grieving the loss of human life - and questioning how we can act to help prevent such an undesired situation from occurring again. The community is praying sincerely for all involved. Wisconsin Dells has entered stage II of the convention hosting industry.
