Aging Wisconsin Communities Dementia Incidence Defunding Health Programs

The population in all Wisconsin communities has more elders residing in them.  Baby boomers are thankfully living to see their advanced age.

The risk of experiencing the undesired symptoms of dementia is directly related to advancing age.  Medical providers describe advanced age as the number one risk factor for dementia.

In Wisconsin we are living in communities with more older people and a larger percentage of them  experience the undesired symptoms of dementia.

The new Federal Administration is beginning to enact legislation that eliminates the collection of public money used to fund low income health care programs.   Calculations published by the Minnesota Department of Human Services expects Federal Legislative changes to remove 1.3 billion dollars next year from the States low income health care programs.

This will begin to look very different for Wisconsin community members who cling to perceptions of past day to day living environments.  The era of making a change at the municipal level to completely fix a perceived problem in town is going away.

The sorts of difficulties small communities will experience will not fit neatly into a discipline specific category.  This means contacting a service such as police, fire, social services, medical delivery, does not alone effectively deal with the difficulty.

All community providers will be expected to participate in the ongoing fixes of chronic difficulties.  This can be different for discipline specific service providers who must now collaborate across often unsolvable situations.  This initially will be seen as extra work - and families will discover there is no one solution available.

As an integrated senior living solutions organization Home Care Path is required to consistently communicate the approaching changes to assist Wisconsin planners to better understand proper allocation of increasingly limited resources.  Communities who proactively adjust their activity to align with drastic funding change and redefined health and safety standards will do better.
