The Wisconsin Dells area has many business locations that close down for the off season. This makes it difficult for community planners who hope to some day see all the large buildings functioning at the higher end of occupancy.
Some of the business modals that delivered service to the visiting tourists will not return the following year due to lack of adequate internal resources. The larger the business modal the greater their dependence upon staff to deliver their package. Some business modals just do not work if they do not have the money to pay for adequate numbers of employees.
When business modals that shut down for the 6 to 8 month off season - attempt to re-open they are typically hiring all new staff. Training costs can be higher in Wisconsin Dells with individuals who come through legal immigration programming from around the globe - and present with varied levels of communication skills.
Many of the larger enterprises experience a good start being new - but gradually settle to the real level of market demand - which can fall below revenue needed to maintain operation. The area regulations do not facilitate this ongoing need to change the physical structure of locations and place a new operator.
Over the long off season some of the business operators find better opportunities in other communities - leaving locations vacant. The number of individual business operators has been greatly diminished - leaving one operator trying to manage many locations.
Community planners have not adapted the regulatory policy that enables entrepreneurs to take over vacant locations and quickly provide service. Regulations seem to lack the capacity to enable multiple varied business modals to operate from an individual location.
The required collection of additional premier resort tax makes developing a local trade very difficult. Locals typically purchase house hold needs, and fuel from outside of the high tax area. The down town Wisconsin Dells area is focused upon serving the needs of tourists who visit for about 3 summer months per year.
In the Down Town Wisconsin Dells area prime real estate corners are occupied by vacant booths that represent outdoor attractions that operate 3 months out of the year. Down Town Wisconsin Dells is a summer tourist attraction.
