Woman Wanted House Checks To View Her Black Walnut Trees

The House Checks staff went to the initial visit.  The family was planning a 6 day vacation out of State.  The woman brought the House Checks staff out to see their group of Black (Juglans Nigra) Walnut Trees.

The family explained 26 years ago they had 64 Black Walnut Seedlings in a couple of old tractor tires.  They then planted the growing seedlings on the property.  Black Walnut is one of the mid-wests most valuable tree species - this is calculated by price per board foot.

The local lumber yards and UW Extension approved harvesters had told the family the trees would need to grow from 16 inches to 24 inches in diameter for selling.  The families vacation was planned for June.  The family explained this is a time we see a lot more traffic - travelers near their property.

The family requested a daily visit and that the Black Walnut trees be viewed with each check.  The Black Walnut trees are in an area where there should be no vehicle tracks or wood cutting taking place.
