The Village of Lake Delton has given the Kalahari Resort 10 million publicly collected dollars to build a convention center capable of serving huge regional- national groups. This creates a greater dependence upon non-local employees to staff in the Wisconsin Dells area. To compensate the Village of Lake Delton finance committee is providing incentives for property owners to construct temporary employee housing.
The expansion of the work force population across the Wisconsin Dells area improves the business operators customer base calculation. The grocer, barber, taxi, church, tavern, restaurant operators all benefit from the additional staff being brought in to fill the growing number of vacant positions.
The Wisconsin Dells area is entering stage II of the convention hosting industry. Part of this is the Village of Lake Delton finance committee working to place franchise hotel operators in the area. This can be described as a top down approach to creating change across the Wisconsin Dells community with increased revenue growth as a hoped for outcome.
