The 2015- 2017 State Budget Act 55 requires the Department of Health Services to prepare a plan for the transition and submit it to The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid to secure a new Family Care/IRIS 2.0 operating waiver.
The plan involves implementing State wide delivery, a more complete medical benefit, and administered by health insurance plans. This means acute care, primary care, and long term care will be consistently managed through a more medical insurance model. Existing Care Management Organizations are expected to be replaced by contracting Health Insurance Plans.
Wisconsin Department of Health Services will publish on the FamilyCare/IRIS 2.0 web site the new plan in the first week of March 2016. Public informational meetings are scheduled for March 7, 2016 in Eau Claire and Madison. This will conclude the Department of Health Services acceptance of consumer testimony.
