Home Care Path has not received payment from Wisconsin's WPS Insurance for claims submitted since January 31, 2015. Continuus contracts with WPS to pay Home Care Path for authorized personal supportive home care hours. These are cares performed on behalf of nursing home level of care individuals who choose to reside at home. A vulnerable population who experience an increased risk for a hospital admission in the absence of regular care givers. On March 15, 2015 Home Care Path was owed 25, 834.00 in unpaid claims. This balance is now about thirty thousand dollars.
Home Care Path does not have the money in risk reserve to go two months without any payment. Home Care Path , Continuus, and WPS Insurance have a long history of working well together. On January 31, 2015 WPS outsourced its claims from Madison Wisconsin to El Paso Texas. Since January 31, 2015 Home Care Path has not received payment for a single claim that has been submitted. Suddenly everything stopped.
Calls to WPS Family Care Center 800-223-6016 connect with staff who believe the claims are in process. Calls to Continuus provider help desk indicate staff are working on it. The certainty in all this is no interoperability and no payment received. Without a payment Home Care Path cannot pay their staff for this important work.
As of Friday March 27, 2015 Home Care Path will no longer pay employees to serve Continuus households until a payment is received. This is troublesome because this population cannot go without a care giver.
