Business operators frustrated with the huge decline in revenue related to the poorly timed implementation of the Down Town Wisconsin Dells road construction have been considering a community assessment. If we do not have an accurate community assessment of the City of Wisconsin Dells we cannot expect policy at the local level to deliver the services to be aligned with the real needs of the population.
Concerns abound with focus on the publicly owned buildings unsafe for human occupancy to the increased dependence upon sales of alcohol through Down Town locations. The multitude of publicly owned vacant lots with maintenance costs that have long ago exceeded their value. The absence of a stop and go light on Broadway and Eddy street. Repair of a simple sidewalk that results in months of blockage from pedestrian use. Smothering Municipal debt load that supports the Administrations continued action of taking a blind eye to the blatant loss.
A proper community assessment defines an accurate value to the public infrastructure - if we do not have an accurate value of our public buildings we will not have policy that assures the safety and wellness of the people who come in contact with these structures in the performance of their day to day work.
