Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin working with Michigan Representative Debbie Stabenow, Ohio Representative Sherrod Brown, and 6 other Senators have introduced the Medicare At 55 Act.  This would create a law that could stabilize insurance premium rates while delivering defined pragmatic coverage for medical care.

Medicare At 55 Act would provide a marketplace option assuring all citizens between the ages of 55 and 64 could buy in to Medicare.  This entitles the population buying in to the same benefits and protections as an individual enrolled under Medicare parts A, B, and D - and access to Advantage plans.

Individuals buying in to Medicare at age 55 would be eligible for the same tax credits and cost sharing subsidies available through the Health Insurance Marketplace.  This seems to simple considering Medicare has a long proven record of paying health care providers for the essential medical care needed to keep a community safe and healthy.

Census data indicates there are approximately 41 million United States citizens living between the ages of 55 to 64 today.  This is a huge population that would clearly benefit from this Federal Legislation designed to add choice while managing premium cost.
