Wisconsin Reinvent Long Term Care Insurance as a 529 like plan

The Wisconsin State Journal Newspaper Reporter David Wahlberg has revealed a plan to reinvent Long Term Care Insurance.  Ingrid Thompson is working with Wisconsin law makers Mark Miller and Robb Kahl to craft a bill that would facilitate a Long Term Care Fund similar to those authorized by section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code (1996).

The State of Wisconsin would regulate the operation of the Long Term Care Fund.  Like the College Savings Plan, the proceeds from the Long Term Care Fund could only be utilized with qualified Supportive Home Care providers.

This is important because the success of such a fund would be dependent upon the availability of (www.homecarepath.com) supportive home care providers willing to contract with the State plan administrators.  In order for the contributing population to benefit from their deposited money a strong supportive home care provider network would need to be functioning throughout the State.

Fortunately Home Care Path has experience delivering supportive care services to individuals residing in an often hard to serve rural landscape.  This will be an important part of the organizing content needed to demonstrate project feasibility.

Home Care Path staff would like to take this opportunity to wish the planning committee members the best of luck with this much needed project.
