The (FDA) Food and Drug Administration has approved the over the counter Nexium 24HR.  Nexium (the purple pill) known chemically as esomeprazole 20mg goes (OTC) over the counter - no doctor prescription required.

In 2012 Pfizer secured the global right to market non-prescription Nexium from AstraZeneca PLC.  Nexium is a popular medicine for frequent, severe, heart burn.  Consumers can expect to see the local pharmacy shelves being stocked with Nexium 24HR this week.
